The Vinyl Countdown Project Support
Here at the Vinyl Countdown, we are proud to support unsigned acts, rising talent and unusual projects. Whether to bring new vinyl to the market or rekindle lost recordings, we aim to support at least four projects every year, in the hope that our support can give an opportunity to something that might otherwise never see the light if day.

Project 01
Tumbling Down': A journey into Race Knower’s long-lost musical realm

In 2019, Axel stumbled upon an intriguing eBay listing featuring an LP that piqued his curiosity. This enigmatic record, titled 'Tumbling Down', appeared to have been listed for a long time, and had apparently not sparked anyone’s attention before. It was obvious it had been forgotten for ages, with no trace of information on popular inventory websites like Discogs.

Yet – to his great surprise – Axel discovered that the entire album was already available on various digital music platforms. As he listened to one captivating track after another, he couldn't help but be astonished by the unique DIY, bluesy atmosphere. “How could such an extraordinary piece of music exist with virtually zero listeners on Spotify?”
Norm reaches out to The Vinyl Countdown....
After some considerable investigation by Axel and Norm they eventually came across a small handful of original backstock copies. Most of the original pressing had defects that kept it from being properly released at the time - these few clean copies quietly made their way into the hands of DJs and collectors. A few months back, they uncovered a final box in storage - these are the very last clean copies around. The album's a really special one, drifting between drum machine-driven blues and Gil Scott-Heron-style roaming jazz soul.

So, when Norm reached out to us here at the Vinyl Countdown and asked if we would be interested in sticking a few copies in our crates, we could not say no.

Project 02
In May this year The Rabbitts recorded a brand-new studio album, 'Paradise', on the banks of the river Orwell in Shotley, Suffolk. It was engineered by Adam Bowers at the Boathouse Studio alongside their incredible band Robin G. Breeze and Julien Beghain.
It all began with an idea to explore creative solitude and collaboration in a way that felt very deliberate. From their solo songwriting sessions through to a winter writing retreat up in the mountains and recording sessions by the estuary, They've had quite an adventure over the last few months. They now have what they believe is a really special album (their best yet!) and they wanted help to make it physical.

The Vinyl Countdown makes contact
After reading all about the project on Kickstarter, we reached out to The Rabbitts and requested that they add a Vinyl Retail parcel to their list of rewards so that we may support the effort.
​
With just a few hours left to run on their campaign and a small shortfall in the funding goal, The Rabbitts responded to our message and added the Vinyl retail pack.
​
True to our word, we backed the project, and the campaign was successfully funded.
